My primary task at American Express was to team up with Product Ownership to knock out the back log Program Administrator Sign On product for the @Work Digital Servicing Platform.
My first challenge was absorbing an incredible amount of information about Global Corporate Payments and the suite of products within @Work. After this, I worked with my PO to absorb the business and compliance requirements for this product and created a process flow for the sign on.
After carefully vetting the proposed business process, I began working directly within the approved style guide to translate the process into a UI prototype using Axure. I worked in tandem with the Product Ownership and development teams.
Creating the process flow for this journey was crucial to design advocacy on this project especially since a lot of coordination with stakeholders was done behind closed doors. It was imperative that the deliverables be as legible and self-explanatory as possible.
This project gave me a broader understanding of the complexity of designing around legal and business requirements. I was able to incorporate business thinking into my design thinking in a much different way and am interested in exploring the intersection between design and business management.
